Who We Are

The Term “Edlio” (or “we,” “us,” or “our”) in this Privacy Policy applies to Edlio, LLC and Edlio’s affiliates.

Edlio respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains who we are, the types of Personal Information1 we collect, how we use the Personal Information we collect, with whom we share Personal Information and your privacy choices. This Privacy Policy also describes how we safeguard your Personal Information and how you may contact us about our privacy practices.

Categories of Personal Information

Depending on your relationship with us and how we interact with you, the categories of Personal Information we collect about you may include:

  • Contact Information – Includes names, usernames, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers, mobile telephone numbers, business contact information and other Personal Information.
  • Financial Information – Includes financial account numbers, including card numbers, transaction data, and order history as part of Edlio Payments and Accounting.
  • Business Data about Edlio Customers – Includes information about your role within your company and other data you share with us in connection with our relationship with you.
  • Online and Technical Information – Includes information concerning your interactions with our website and applications, including websites you may have visited prior and subsequent to visiting our website, website IP addresses, device identifiers, device settings, device characteristics, advertising IDs, browsing history, server log records, activity log records, and other information collected using Cookies and other Tracking Technologies.
  • Geolocation Data – Includes precise geolocation information which we collect from your mobile device if you opt-in and allow us to collect this information.
  • Technical and Other Support – Includes technical support requests and requests for product information.
  • Compliance Data – Includes records that demonstrate compliance with applicable laws, records concerning consumer preferences and records concerning data subject rights requests, etc.

We may collect Personal Information about you from various sources, depending on your relationship with us. Sources include:

  • When you register for our accounts.
  • Your computer or devices when you interact with our website, mobile applications and platforms, and through other automatic technologies.
  • Cookies that track your use of our mobile applications and website and third-party web analytics services such as Google Analytics.

  • Service providers who perform services on our behalf. These service providers have access to your Personal Information solely to perform services on our behalf. They are obligated not to disclose or use your Personal Information for any other purpose.
  • Third-party advertising partners who may use information collected by cookies and similar technologies to help us with our online advertising programs.

  • With financial institutions and card networks to process payments on our Payment and Accounting platform.

We may share de-identified/aggregated data with third parties, advertisers, and business partners who conduct analyses for platform improvement purposes on our behalf. We may also share aggregated information that does not include Personal Information and log data with third parties for industry analyses, demographic profiling, and other purposes.

We may disclose your Personal Information: (i) when required or allowed to do so by law to law enforcement agencies, regulators and courts, (ii) when we sell or transfer businesses or assets (including in the event of a reorganization, dissolution or liquidation); (iii) to enforce our contracts and protect our property/property rights; (iv) as needed for audits, compliance, or corporate governance; (v) for business continuity purposes; and (vi) to prevent physical harm or financial loss.

Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies

Information on Cookies and Other Technologies

Cookies are small text files that websites send to your computer or other devices to uniquely identify your browser and to store information or settings in your browser. Cookies allow us to recognize you when you return to our website and mobile applications. Performance-related cookies collect information on how users use the site. We use first-party and third-party performance-related and analytics cookies to help identify specific users and how they arrive at the site, how they use the site, and determine how we can improve the site.

We use third-party advertising cookies to collect information about whether you have interacted with an advertisement and help us to offer you tailored advertising to provide information that may be of interest to you. How we Use Artificial Intelligence

We use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning technologies to power and develop features on our platform. In certain instances, we may contract with third-party AI service providers to power certain platform features. These service providers are contractually required to process data according to the terms of their contract with Edlio and must maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures. We do not use Personal Information when developing, deploying and using AI products and tools. Our use of AI is subject to our AI Principles and is consistent with our commitment to privacy as described in our Privacy Policy.

Edlio has identified principles that guide our AI use and development:

  • Fairness: AI systems should be fair.
  • Privacy and Security: AI systems should respect privacy and be secure.
  • Inclusiveness: AI systems should be inclusive and accessible to people of all backgrounds.
  • Transparency: AI systems should be easy to understand.
  • Accountability: Individuals should be accountable for AI systems.
  • Reliability and Safety: AI systems should be dependable and safe.

Our Mobile Applications

Edlio’s Mobile Applications (Edlio’s Mobile Apps) are phone and web applications for schools and school districts (collectively referred to herein as “schools”) we contract with. Schools control the Personal Information that is collected, shared, and transferred by our apps. For example, schools may send automated notices such as absence alerts. They may also provide documents such as report cards to students via Edlio’s Mobile Apps. We store and process Personal Information on behalf of schools and collect the contact information of parents and students, enrollment information and student identification numbers.

We collect geolocation data in our apps. We may use your precise location (geolocation data) from your mobile device when you download our apps. We use this information for analytical purposes and to deliver personalized content to you. You must opt-in for geolocation data to be collected by us. We may also offer push notifications if you opt to receive them. Please be advised that you do not have to opt-in to have your geolocation data collected and you do not have to enable push notifications to use Edlio Mobile Apps.

We collect device-related information, including your device’s advertising ID and other device identifiers. We use this information to authenticate you and identify your device. We may use device-related information to associate you with different devices you use. We also use this information for fraud prevention purposes. You may be able to reset your device’s advertising ID. iOS devices and Android may allow you to reset your device identifier under the “settings” menu.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act

We follow rules established by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We use student educational records to provide services to schools and school districts. We don’t disclose student educational records except as directed by schools or school districts or as legally permitted by FERPA. Schools may review and request modifications to student educational records by contacting privacy@edlio.com.

Children’s Data

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect Personal Information directly from children under the age of thirteen (13). We rely on school districts to obtain consent on behalf of parents for students under the age of thirteen (13). We will only disclose Personal Information to provide services or as directed by schools and school districts. You may review, correct, or delete your child’s data by emailing privacy@edlio.com. If you believe that we are processing a child’s information inappropriately, please contact us at privacy@edlio.com.

How we Protect Your Personal Information

We maintain appropriate physical, organizational, administrative and technical measures designed to protect your Personal Information from loss, unlawful or unauthorized access, disclosure or use.

How Long we Retain Your Personal Information

We retain your Personal Information for the retention period necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer data retention period is required by applicable law or our data retention requirements.

International Transfers

We may transfer Personal Information we collect about you to recipients in jurisdictions other than the country it was originally collected which may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you originally provided the data. We will protect your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy and will transfer your Personal Information in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Your Privacy Rights

We respect your right to access, correct, delete your Personal Information in accordance with applicable privacy laws. You have the right to request:

  • Confirmation of whether we process your Personal Information and request a copy of that information.
  • That we update inaccurate, incomplete or outdated Personal Information.
  • That we delete your Personal Information in certain circumstances.
  • That we restrict the use of your Personal Information in certain circumstances.
  • That we not sell or share your Personal Information.
  • That we limit the use of your Sensitive Personal Information.
  • Withdrawal of your consent where you’ve given consent to process your Personal Information.
  • To object to certain processing of your Personal Information such as direct marketing.
  • To opt out of the sharing of your Personal Information with third parties for personalized advertising, also known as targeted advertising.
  • To opt out of “profiling” that uses your Personal Information for automated decision-making. Edlio does not engage in “profiling” so we do not offer an opt out from this type of profiling.

Edlio Payments and Accounting

Edlio Payments is a payments platform. Edlio Payments are used by schools Edlio contracts with to enable schools to collect payments for school activities such as school fees, athletic fees, childcare fees, etc. Edlio processes payments on behalf of these schools. Edlio collects Personal Information such as card numbers, transaction data, billing address, phone numbers, order history and information is shared with bank and card networks to process these payments.

Our website may contain links to third party websites. These websites are independent from us and have their own policies about the Personal Information they collect about you. Please review their privacy policies and notices to determine their privacy practices prior to providing your Personal Information to them. We do not own or control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy information practices.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes to the Privacy Policy are material, we will post an alert online. We will notify you if changes materially impact the way we use Personal Information we have already collected.
